We were proud to support a cohort of young musicians taking part in Brixton Chamber Orchestra’s Side by Side programme in partnership with Lambeth Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Over four weeks, 35 young people rehearsed and performed alongside 25 professional BCO musicians, working on ambitious repertoire in a truly collaborative environment. The programme culminated in a bold and joyful performance at Brixton Recreation Centre, a powerful celebration of teamwork, creativity and shared purpose.

Programmes like this do more than develop musical skill. They build confidence, raise aspirations and create a sense of belonging. Performing alongside professionals helps young people see what is possible for themselves and strengthens the belief that they have a place in spaces that might once have felt out of reach.

As a surprise on the evening, Camilla joined the orchestra on stage, adding her voice to an already electrifying finale. It was a special moment that reflected exactly why we support this work. Music fosters connection, resilience and self belief, qualities that stay with young people long after the final note.

At the Kerslake Robshaw Foundation, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive. Through our support of programmes like Side by Side, we are helping to create environments where young people can grow in confidence and discover new possibilities for their future.
