This week’s Friday Feature highlights KORI Youth Charity, a London-based organisation that has been supporting young people from communities that are marginalised and under-represented since 2002.
KORI’s mission is to support young people to thrive and contribute to their worlds. Through three programmes, they create opportunities for young people to expand their horizons through enriching trips and activities, access arts-based learning in cultural institutions, and connect with employers to develop key industry skills. Alongside this, their one-to-one youth work enables the most vulnerable young people to access wellbeing support and pathways into education, training and employment.
The Kerslake Robshaw Foundation is proud to be funding KORI x London Symphony Orchestra, an exciting partnership that will engage young people in creative workshops, mentoring and collaborative music-making. By removing barriers to participation in orchestral music, the project will help young people build confidence, strengthen their wellbeing and develop a greater understanding of opportunities within the creative industries.
As one young person explained:
“Being at KORI gave me opportunities and access to spaces and places I never thought I could be in. This improved my confidence so much and gave me the courage to really see myself in such places.”
We’re delighted to support KORI as they continue opening doors, broadening horizons and creating opportunities for young people to thrive.
