This week’s Friday Feature highlights Fun 4 Young People (F4YP), an organisation creating safe, supportive spaces where young people can build confidence, form friendships and feel a sense of belonging.

Working across Bedfordshire, F4YP delivers a wide range of activities including after-school sessions, holiday provision, sport, creative arts and targeted wellbeing support. At the heart of their work is a commitment to building trusted relationships and providing consistent support for young people who may be experiencing low confidence, loneliness, school avoidance or challenges with social connection.

With support from the Kerslake Robshaw Foundation, F4YP delivers its REACH programme, an early intervention emotional literacy and wellbeing offer designed in response to the needs of the young people they support. Through a combination of one-to-one and group sessions delivered in schools, alongside ongoing pastoral support within their wider provision, young people are given the space to talk, reflect and build the skills they need to navigate challenges.

The programme sits within a broader, year-round offer that combines sport, enrichment and creative activities with wraparound pastoral support and access to therapeutic services where needed. This flexible and responsive approach ensures that support can be tailored to each young person, helping them to stay engaged and feel supported over time.

Through consistent care and positive relationships, F4YP helps young people develop resilience, improve communication and build a stronger sense of self, supporting them both in and beyond their time in the programme.

One young person shared:

“Before, I felt lost; now, I feel more comforted, and people understand me more.”

At the Kerslake Robshaw Foundation, we’re proud to support organisations like F4YP that create inclusive environments where young people can feel supported, connected and able to thrive.
