This week’s Friday Feature highlights Dance United Yorkshire, an organisation using dance to help young people build confidence, resilience and believe in what’s possible.
With support from the Kerslake Robshaw Foundation, their Adventures Project brings together young people in Bradford facing significant challenges for an intensive five-week programme combining contemporary dance with dedicated pastoral support. Working alongside New Adventures, participants develop confidence, teamwork and communication skills while working towards a live performance for family and friends.
The programme gives young people the opportunity to step outside their comfort zones, develop new skills and discover strengths they may never have realised they had.
“I feel proud of myself because I’ve changed as a person. My anxiety is getting better now because I’ve learnt how to control my emotions through dance.”
